Sport-planet.ru is reporting that Czech superstar Jaromir Jagr has signed a new two year contract with Avangard Omsk of the KHL. Citing “reliable sources” the article claims “Czech forward Jaromir Jagr has decided to remain with Avangard Omsk for two more seasons. The sum of the agreement was not disclosed, but it will most likely be less than under the previous contract.”
Caveat: This isn’t one of the better known Russian sports sites, so take it with a grain of salt until it’s confirmed by another source.
UPDATE 04/23/2010 12:30PM: Puck Daddy’s Dmitry Chesnokov followed up on the report of Jagr’s signing with his sources in Russia, and posted the following on Twitter:
To answer Qs about Jagr re-signing in Omsk of the KHL: Anatoly Bardin, Omsk’s GM, did not confirm it when my source called him just now.
Omsk’s GM said it was too early to talk about Jagr re-signing with Avangard, but the club would want to do it before the Worlds.
