Baby Rangers face baby Devils in Newark
Tuesday January 05th 2010, 10:55 pm

Meant to post this earlier, but Rangers fans in the New York area have the opportunity to see the future in action on Wednesday at 7 p.m. when the Hartford Wolf Pack take on the Lowell Devils at the Prudential Center in nearby Newark, NJ.

General admission tickets are just $15 for adults and $10 for kids under 12 and are available at the Prudential Center box office or online from Ticketmaster.

Poor timing, true, since the big club will be playing six miles away at MSG (where I’ll be), but if you’re not going to be at the Garden and want to catch what should be some good hockey between two division rivals — at an extremely reasonable price — the Prudential Center is the place to be.

went to the game. nobody really stood out, although pack came back once again to tie game in third. the only real negative was Vally, who gave up three terrible goals, including the game winner with 59 seconds to go in the game. after he was pulled in the final 50 seconds, he actually left the ice before the game was over. sad to say but he really looks done. hard to believe it was the same goalie who a little less than three months ago shut out anaheim, albeit not a great team but an nhl team. he’s played himself out of the league in my opinion.
if i may comment on the devils fans, the only thing they ever seem to get excited about is something anti-nyr. at least the obnoxious in msg sometimes have wit. the nj “fans” have just the obnoxious part down well and are devoid of any mental acuity. haven’t been to many arenas but could there be any worse fans in the nhl? and they were all season ticket holders who went there because some nhl players were there.

Thanks for the report Alan. Looks like I picked the right game to go to — at least I got to see a win.

We’ve gone to a couple Rangers-Devils games at the Rock and haven’t run into too many over-the-top obnoxious morons. It did amuse me, however, to hear loads of anti-Rangers comments when my husband and I went to the Rock to see the Coyotes play the Devils. The Rangers weren’t even playing. They’re just totally obsessed.

We have had bad experiences with Devils fans at MSG — twice. One was a drunk chick who wouldn’t sit down. Fairly harmless stuff, but incredibly annoying. It was the closest I’ve ever come to getting in a fight. ;)

The other was a drunk, obnoxious guy who wouldn’t shut up and was cursing at everyone in earshot — including tons of kids since it was a weekend matinee game. My husband had surprised me by upgrading our seats for a pair in the 100s and this guy and his entourage showed up during the first intermission and very clearly did not have tickets for the seats he’d claimed. Had he not been an obnoxious jerk trying to start trouble, I don’t think anything would have happened. But since he was disturbing everyone, my husband reported him to the nearest usher and he got chucked. Mwahaha.
