The New York Rangers have suspended Tyler Arnason after the veteran forward signed with an unspecified team in Europe. The 30-year old Oklahoma City native had been playing for the Hartford Wolf Pack since being cut by the Rangers during training camp. Arnason signed a one year, two-way contract worth $700,000 with the Rangers this summer. In 11 games with the Wolf Pack the ninth-year pro had three assists and was a minus-8.
Forward Chris Chappell has been recalled from Charlotte to take his place on the roster. Chappell had one goal and one assist in five games in the ECHL this season. The 21-year old rookie has also played one game for the Hartford this season, going scoreless with five penalty minutes.
UPDATE 11/10/09: According to the club’s web site, Arnason has signed with Dinamo Riga of the KHL. Arnason is expected to arrive in Latvia tomorrow, and will most likely make his KHL debut on Thursday, November 19th when the team hosts Spartak Moscow. He’ll wear number 15. Arnason joins fellow former Rangers Marcel Hossa and Sandis Ozolinsh, who serves as team captain, on the Latvian squad.

[...] Beyond the Blueshirts: Arnason suspended. Quite a fall from grace for the former Hawk/Sen/Av & Ranger. [...]
