Currently enjoying our final camping trip of the year in the Adirondack wilderness but wanted to take a moment to let the Jaromir Jagr fans among us know that big guy picked up a hat trick in Avangard’s game against Dinamo Riga today. Jagr lead the charge as the Hawks roared out to a 5-1 lead, only to see Riga pull within one. They couldn’t get the equalizer, however, giving Avangard the 5-4 win and their first victory of the season. Former New York Ranger Marcel Hossa had an assist for the losing side.
In other KHL-related news, Rangers 2009 draft pick Mikhail Pashnin earned his first point in the KHL yesterday, an assist on Mark Hartigan’s third period goal. The 20-year old rookie upped his ice time to just over 11 minutes after playing just 9:09 in his KHL debut on Friday. His team, CSKA Moscow, lost, however, dropping a 3-2 decision to Amur Khabarovsk.
