Traverse City Prospects Tournament Schedule Released
Sunday August 09th 2009, 1:19 pm

For the fourth year running, the New York Rangers will send a group of young players to Traverse City, Michigan in September, where they’ll take part in the Detroit Red Wings’ annual prospect tournament.  This year, in addition to the host team, they’ll join prospects from the Columbus Blue Jackets, Minnesota Wild, Carolina Hurricanes, St. Louis Blues, Dallas Stars, and Atlanta Thrashers.

The tournament kicks off on Sunday, September 6th, and culminates with the championship game on Thursday, September 10th.

In round robin play, the Rangers’ prospects will face off against Carolina at 3pm on Sunday, September 6th, Atlanta at 3pm on Monday, September 7th, and host team Detroit at 7pm on Wednesday, September 9th.  The over-all champion, in addition to the final placement for the remainder of the teams, will be determined on the final day of the tournament, Thursday September 10th.  Unlike past years, that will give the prospects ample time to return to New York for the start of Rangers training camp on September 12th.

The full schedule, including practice times, is available at Red Wings Central.  Thus far, only the Stars have released their roster for the tournament, but additional line-ups will begin to trickle in over the coming weeks.  If history is anything to go by, the Rangers roster won’t be available until the end of the month.
