Huh? The guy put up gaudy numbers in the 3rd highest league in Russia. And he has no KHL experience and basically no National Team experience. He might very well be a player, but there are certainly other forwards who are better prospects right now. I dont know if Pashnin is ever going to come over, but he’s going to be a great player wherever he plays. Also, I have no idea how Maxim Chudinov does not get drafted. He could be a fantastic NHL defenseman for a long, long time.

I would have taken him ahead of Burke’s son… I thought it was surprising that he fell below other Russian players taken ahead of him. Other than Kulikov he should have been the highest ranked Russian.

I was rooting for Avtsyn to be the Rangers risky Russian pick as well. He had gaudy numbers last season, and seems set on coming to the NHL (eventually), whereas Pashnin seems to be very much on the fence. Plus, Avtsyn’s a right wing, and would have filled a position at which the Rangers are extremely thin.

You know I’ve got no problems with Pashnin, he sounds like he has a load of potential, however I really wish that Clark had scouted and drafted Avtsyn who went to Montreal, the kid just had a great season and said he is committed to being over for next year, he seems like a RW version of Grachev.
