Thursday KHL Playoff Update

Lokomotiv Yaroslavl took a two game lead in its series with Spartak Moscow, while Metallurg Magnitogorsk evened things up with Atlant Mytishchi in Thursday’s KHL quarterfinal playoff action.

Lokomotiv 5 vs. Spartak 3

Alexei Yashin got the hat trick and added an assist to move into second place in playoff scoring with four goals and three assists in six games and Lokomotiv scored the game winner with 4:55 left in the third to beat Ivan Baranka’s Spartak Moscow, 5-3. Baranka registered an assist and lead Spartak defenseman in ice time at 20:58, but finished a -2. The series heads to Moscow for game three on Saturday with Lokomotiv up two games to none.

Atlant 3 vs. Metallurg 4

Ray Emery lets in four goals on 35 shots but remains third amongst goaltenders who’ve played at least three games in save percentage (.952) and goals against (1.40). Metallurg ties the series at one with at 4-3 win as the teams head to Magnitogorsk for game three on Saturday.
