Avangard Omsk Drop Game One in OT

Avangard Omsk scored two power play goals to come back from a two goal deficit against top seed Salavat Yulaev Ufa, only to lose 38 seconds into overtime when Andrei Kuteykin scored on a carry-over power play from the final minute of regulation.  Jaromir Jagr (3 shots, 19:59 TOI) and Alexander Radulov (2 shots, 16:10 TOI) were both held scoreless in the game.  Salvat Yulaev lost top defenseman and former NHLer Oleg Tverdovsky to an undisclosed injury late in the third.  His status for Monday’s game two is uncertain.

In other first round results, Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk upset Lokomotiv Yaroslavl 3-2 in overtime, Atlant Mytishchi topped Traktor Chelyabinsk 3-0, and Karel Rachunek and Dynamo Moscow scored an easy 4-0 victory over Marcel Hossa’s Dinamo Riga.
