The Hartford Wolf Pack finally solved the Lowell Devils on Friday, defeating their division rivals for the first time in five tries, and doing so in decisive fashion, 5-2. The reunited top line of P.A. Parenteau, Artem Anisimov and Brodie Dupont celebrated with a combined six points, with Parenteau tallying twice and Anisimov adding a goal and two assists. The Wolf Pack’s top two scorers had both gone two straight games and three of the last four scoreless.
New York Rangers 2006 fifth round draft pick Tomas Zaborsky earned his first AHL goal on a pretty three-way passing play with Mike Ouellette and former Saginaw Spirit teammate Tom Pyatt, and Patrick Rissmiller added a power play marker for his seventh point in the last six games.
Sean Avery took a first period cross-checking penalty, but drew the power play on which Rissmiller scored in the second period. He finished scoreless for the third straight game and was on the ice for both Lowell goals.
Matt Zaba earned third star honors in his second consecutive start, stopping 36 of 38 shots, while the Pack scored their five goals on just 28 shots.
