Avangard Omsk Squeak into the Playoffs, or Not (UPDATED)
Tuesday February 24th 2009, 10:46 pm

Ack! Ignore everything I said here.  When I looked at the standings last night, I failed to notice that 18th place Barys Astana had two games remaining.  They won one of them today.  A regulation win tomorrow against Chris Simon and Chekhov Vityaz would leave Barys tied with Avangard at 78 points, but with an extra win.  That would send the KHL’s most expensive roster on an early summer vacation.

According to a Czech media website, it looked like it said that Jagr’s contract was being canceled for next year because of financial difficulties. Is this true?

That Czech story is how I ended up finding out I screwed up last night. ;)

I skimmed the main Russian sports sites quickly and didn’t see anything. But I’m going to dig around more after work tonight (too much work, too little time).

I also saw where Grahame is sueing them again. Also saw something the other day that either an ex player or coach that was there for a short time said that what the team said that happened with Grahame was a lie.
If you find anything, let us know.
