Ford Turns Trick at ECHL All Star Game
Thursday January 22nd 2009, 7:29 am

Matthew Ford, who signed a professional try-out contract with the Hartford Wolf Pack over the weekend after an impressive 16 goal, 15 assist start in 21 games with the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL, was one of two players to pick up hat tricks in Wednesday night’s ECHL All Star Game. The University of Wisconsin graduate, who lead the Checkers in goals and plus-minus (+19) prior to being called up to Hartford, also picked up an assist in being named the game’s Most Valuable Player.  The American Conference defeated the National Conference by the final score of 11-5, tying ECHL All Star Game records for the most goals by one team and largest margin of victory. Ford, a first-year pro, earned an assist in his first game back with the Pack on Monday, after picking up one goal in a previous 12-game stint with Hartford earlier in the season.
