Grachev Named OHL Rookie of the Month

Following a 20-point performance over 13 games in the month of November, New York Rangers 2008 3rd round draft pick Evgeny Grachev has been named Rookie of the Month by the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). Including tonight’s 2-point effort in a 5-2 loss to the Saginaw Spirit, the 18-year old native of Khabarovsk, Russia leads all OHL rookies in goals (17) and points (31) and is a +12 in 25 games. Grachev got on the scoreboard in 10 of his 13 November games, which including 6 multiple-point nights, highlighted by a 4-goal performance on November 16th in which he scored all four goals for the Brampton Battalion in a 4-2 win over the Ottawa 67’s. In two games playing for Team Russia in the ADT Canada Russia Challenge, Grachev picked up a goal and an assist. His shorthanded breakaway goal in the Russian squad’s 6-3 loss in Guelph on November 20th earned him Player of the Game honors for Team Russia.
