Jaromir Jagr returned to the lineup Friday after missing the final two periods of Avangard Omsk’s 5-0 loss to SKA St. Petersburg on Wednesday, scoring a vintage Jagr goal by breaking through three opponents at the offensive blue line and leading the Hawks to a 4-1 victory over Severstal Cherepovets.  The goal gave Jagr  15 goals and 16 assists for 31 points in 24  games, tied for tops in the KHL with former Rangers draft pick Jan Marek.

Alexander Ryantsev and former Ottawa Senators 1st round draft pick Jakub Klepis each added goals for the visitors, and Alexander Popov, named forward of the week by the KHL on Friday, topped off the scoring with an empty net goal in the final minute of play.

Avangard play their last game before the KHL breaks for international play against Dynamo Moscow on Sunday.  Early risers can watch the game live starting at 7am.  In scheduling news, the KHL has anounced that what was supposed to be Avangard’s first game back against Lokomotiv Yaroslavl on Novemer 11th has been rescheduled for November 20th at the request of Lokomotiv, who sought the change in order to allow their players participating in the Karjala Cup more time to return from their respective national teams.

Is Joseph Straka related to Marty Strake? He & Bardin scored the 3rd goal.
