Statement from Avangard Omsk

Avangard Omsk have released the following statement regarding the passing of forward Alexei Cherepanov:

Tragedy
Yesterday during the Continental Hockey League game between Chekhov Vityaz and Omsk Avangard the heart of Avangard forward Alexei Cherepanov stopped. Alexei was quickly sent to a hospital in the city of Chekhov. Unfortunately, despite efforts undertaken, it was not possible to save the life of the 19-year old hockey player. The leadership of the club, coaches, and players of the team express their sincere condolences to the family and friends of Alexei Cherepanov. We grieve together with you, and will always remember and love our Lesha. Without him we we have all become orphans.

    To whom this e-mail may concern i just wanted to say i’m very sorry for Alexei Cherepanov having that terrible encounter with his life being taken away from him at a young age.I’m a former football,an basketball player an at the age of 44,i had to experince a life threaten senerio,my heart stopped on me but with the blessing of God he was not ready to take me to another place,so i feel the pain that his family an friends will have to go thru.I will say good prayer’s for this young man but i know he is in a better place.God Bless u All

    Our prayers and thoughts go out to the family and friends of Alexei Cherepanov in this tragic time. I have children that may want to play hockey soon, and I have a fear, and this was it. My heart goes out to his parents, we think they’re safe doing what they love. god bless. the mcnab family.
