This is so sad. You cry when you read the most of it. Then you see that smile on Alexei face and it brings a smile to your face. Someone I never knew and think about alot. Thank you for keeping us in touch with Hockey in Russia. I was crushed, angry, upset (you name it) when I heard Jaromir was no longer going to be in NY. I have been a big fan since he was a Rookie with Pitt. Mario was my ultimate favorite until Jagr showed me an amazing player he is and when he became our Captain he definetly clinched the title. On July 4th (some holiday that turned out to be) I felt robbed of watching the last years of my favorite player/Captain ever. Now I feel that I was robbed again never will we get to see Alexei on our ice. This isn't a good year and yet nothing like what they are going through. Being a fan of Jagr for so long it breaks my heart hearing what he says and seeing pictures of how horrible he feels. I just want to come over to Russia and hug everyone. When I read what his father said I started to cry. I hope his father knows that there is no negative feelings in heaven and Alexei is looking down on both his parents with love and smiles. I can't imagine living with that type of guilt on top of everything else.

Let's hope that lessons were really learned and this will never happen again in Hockey anywhere around the world.

Thank you for all of your coverage on this tragedy. I am a Penguins fan but also a hockey fan, and this horrific event affects all of us. Thanks for the translations. I only know a tiny, tiny bit of Russian, and it is very frustrating being unable to understand all of the Russian reports.

Rest in Peace, Alexei. We will do all we can to ensure that nothing like this will ever happen again.

Thanks again Laurie for your fair and balanced coverage. This site always presents all sides and never has printed rumors as fact. Your work is very appreciated.

Alan, your comment expresses the sentiment of hockey fans all over the world. Although I am not a Ranger fan I am an Avangard Omsk fan (from Tampa) and cannot express how much I appreciate Laurie's coverage of this tragedy. I will be watching the game tomorrow, and even though it will be a rough time for the Omsk players, I know in my heart they will give it their all for Alexei. I know that having Jagr and Grahame on the team with their veteran leadership has helped the younger players in so many ways. The grief shown on their faces was heartbreaking. Once again, Laurie, thanks for the coverage, which I know is very difficult for you. You are greatly appreciated.
