I'm still in disbelief days later; my biggest regret is that he never made it to America, not just selfishly so I could have seen him play, but because he wouldn't have died. Alexei was a couple of months older than me and it's so unimaginable for me that something like this could happen to a world-class athlete. As sad as it is (and I've been wiping away tears for days without ever having even met him), we should commend Alexei on a great life; he was clearly beloved by thousands of people and I'm very glad that in his last days he was named to the preliminary Russian Olympic team so his dream was fulfilled. Rest in Peace Alexei, I'll never forget you. Laurie thanks for all the updates.
