A Day of Sorrow
Wednesday October 15th 2008, 10:17 pm

The crowds began to gather outside Omsk Arena in the early hours of the morning on Wednesday, anxious for the opportunity to pay tribute to their idol and friend, Alexei Cherepanov. For three hours a stream of people filed past his coffin in the center of the arena, but still some had to be turned away. All told, some 60,000 people made their way through the arena before his coffin was carried to the cemetery for burial. Russian news services offer a glimpse of the outpouring of sorrow for a young life lost.
