In addition to talking to Alexei Cherepanov after yesterday’s pre-season debut, Sport Express caught up with Jaromir Jagr to ask him about his first game back in Russia. Among other things, Jagr had high praise for his new teammate:

- Has Avangard changed greatly during your absence?

- The team became younger, there are many promising kids; for example, Cherepanov. Today he played simply superbly! In any case, I admire his game.

- Everyone predicts a big future for this hockey player. How do you evaluate Cherepanov’s future prospects?

- It’s obvious that Alexei is an extremely skilled guy. In practices he tries very hard, and I think his efforts will bring results.

Jagr and Cherepanov and their linemates all got the day off today in Omsk’s second game in the President of the Republic of Bashkortostan Cup, which Omsk won by the score of 4-2 over Traktor Chelyabinsk. Former Carolina Hurricane’s goalie and Stanley Cup winner John Grahame picked up the win in net.
