The AHL released its schedule for the 2008-2009 season this afternoon, giving Hartford fans the first glimpse of what their season will look like. The Wolf Pack will kick off their 12th season with back-to-back home games against nearby rivals Springfield and Bridgeport on Saturday, October 11 and Sunday, October 12th before heading north on the first of two road trips to Canada, where they’ll visit Hamilton and Toronto on the 17th and 18th of October. After a stop in Worcester on their way back they’ll kick off their longest home stand of the season with seven games between October 24th and November 8th. Their longest stretch away from the cozy confines of the XL Center is only 4 games, which happens multiple times throughout the season.
The Pack will travel a little further afield this season, with their furthest road trip taking them to Winnipeg, Manitoba, where they’ll play back-to-back games against the Moose on January 6th and 7th. Their other significant trip travel-wise will take place in November when they visit Grand Rapids and Lake Erie on the 14th and 16th.
The Wolf Pack finish off the season with seven games against division rivals Providence (2), Portland, Lowel (2), Manchester, and wrap up the season at home against Springfield on Saturday, April 11th. Only six of their final eighteen games are on home ice, setting up a tough end-of-season battle to clinch their 12th consecutive playoff berth.
Once again the Pack will face off against their nearest rivals, Springfield and Bridgeport, ten times each, while meeting up with Atlantic Division opponents Providence, Portland, Manchester, Worcester, and Lowell a total of eight times each. Other Eastern Conference matchups will include home and away games against Albany, Hershey, Philadelphia and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.
