Cherepanov Kicks off the Pre-Season with a Hat Trick
Tuesday August 05th 2008, 8:52 pm

Alexei Cherepanov started the pre-season off on the right foot today with a hat trick in the first game of the President of Republic Bashkortostan Cup, a pre-season exhibition tournament that takes place through Friday in Ufa, Russia. Cherepanov kicked things off with his first goal just three minutes into the game, off assists by linemates Alexander Popov and Anton Kuryanov. He also put home the game-winning fourth tally (also from Kuryanov and Popov) and the sixth, insurance goal (from Popov). Jaromir Jagr picked up two assists, on goals by linemates Pavel Rosa and Jakob Klepis. Omsk defeated Slovakian team HK-36 Skalica by the final score of 6-3.

Since this was Jagr’s first game of the new season in Russia, I suspect highlights will be posted online later, despite it only being a pre-season game. If they are, I will update with a link.
